Question 6: When it comes to impediments to mission from our cultural norms how do you see that playing out at 2010? It's easy to criticize our forebears' dependence on their own cultural grammars, whether that's 19th century Orientalism and colonialism, or the Cold War mentality of the 50s, etc. But what challenges are we going to face to our psyche today? This interview was conducted by Aaron Hollander, student of theology from New York City, on behalf of Edinburgh 2010 Youth. |

Its interesting that you speak about the tension, integral to mission, between the need to commit to the way of Christ and at the same time to respond to the ways in which weve fallen short of that way in the past. Isn't this continual conversion to the way of Christ, this metanoia, something that we are (or should be) undergoing all the time? This interview was conducted by Aaron Hollander, student of theology from New York City, on behalf of Edinburgh 2010 Youth. |
